Fact is Crazier then Fiction: Dead Dog in a Bag
July 14, 2007
This story may seem like a joke, but as sometimes the case, fact can be crazier then fiction. While traveling, I was told this story about a traveler’s sister who was dog sitting for her neighbors in Toronto when unexpectedly she found the dog lying dead in his sleep.
The sister then nervously called the family who suprisingly immediately apologized for the death of the dog and explained how the dog had been elderly for quite some time. They asked her one last favor, could she take the dog to the city shelter to be disposed of? The sister who has so thrilled at not being in trouble for the death of the family dog, immediately agreed to their request.
When she began to think of the details of her new operation, she soon realized that it was going to be much more difficult then she expected. Firstly, she didn’t have anything in which to transport the dog, so after searching the house she finally settled on the only option of just stuffing the dead dog into a large duffel bag.
Secondly, she didn’t have a car and so not wanting to pay the $50 each way for a taxi she decided on taking the bus with the dead dog in the duffel bag.
As she sat down on the bus, the man next to her causally asked,
”so where are going with such a large heavy bag?”
“Oh, just on a little vacation,” the sister replied.
The man kept up the conversation, “Really, where?”
“Oh, you know, just the Bahamas,” she lied.
“So what are you bringing with you in such a large duffel bag?”
“Oh, well, you know just my clothes, laptop, Ipod and other goodies we can’t possibly seem to live without these days.”
She said good-bye to the man and stepped off the bus. Shortly after,
the man who she was sitting next to ran up behind her,
hit her on the back of the head,
and while she collapsed, he ran off with her duffel bag…dead dog and all!
In Costa Rica they say Pura Vida, but this story is Pura Karma.
